The 21 part of that aspect ratio may be causing the same FoV values to appear much lower on widescreen setups. Can we get any proof/response on this from the team? I am positing that the 90 FoV calculation on widescreen (21:9) setups doesn't actually give you 90 degrees of field of view. This basically removed the wide aspect of the screen out of the FoV calculation. I AM NOT ADVOCATING CHANGING GAME FILES, JUST STATING THIS FOR DISCUSSION: One of the previous "not approved community fixes" was to edit a file and change the FoV calculation from the X-axis to the Y-axis on the monitor. I believe that there may be a miscalculation happening with the FoV in ultrawide setups. Also comparing the actual camera views of rough distances between SoT and other FPS shows that SoT "90" is not 90 degrees on ultrawides. 7:32am Depends on the size of your monitor (and how far away you are from it), not just the resolution. Having a good viewmodel fov could be the difference between a win or lose in CSGO since they can allow you to see more of the screen and reduce blind spots. While all of the commands might seem a little confusing and wordy, they are quite simple. Best FOV for 1920x1080 Ive been experimenting around with FOVs and I cant really decide on a good one that isnt too warped, and too sucked in. In Sea of Thieves however, motion sickness comes on fast. Finding a good viewmodel fov does sound a bit complex and the topic itself does seem a bit strange. If you look at nVidia Surround screenshots, you notice that the middle screen is the same as a normal screen (because it is), the extra two screens only add more stuff to the side, it doesnt actually change your Field of View. I can play with 90 FoV on other FPS-type games without issue or motion sickness. The FOV itself doesnt change, but you do (as you say) see more stuff because its basically the same as having a wide-ass screen. Anchor: Depends on your preferences, dont be an ass. Anchor: 85 is exceptionally low, a normal FOV is 90 - 110. I'm not even sure that it's an issue with the "90" FOV value that's shown in the settings. Also does anyone know the correct FOV for various aspect ratios Im using 16:9 (1920x1080) and 85 FOV feels a tad high.
